Dark Was The Night

So I’m super tempted to say that these two compilation discs changed my life (which you’ll see they kind of did), but I’d be lying to say I discovered most of the artists featured with the album. Actually, most of the artists are among my favorites like Conor Oberst, Grizzly Bear, The National and especially Bon Iver and Iron & Wine.

But here, the artists I fell in love with in the past show new perspectives or takes on other songs I either had no knowledge of, or that I had feel in love with in the past.

What I usually do with new music is listen to the “recently added” playlist in my iTunes (what’s up with the new iTunes, p.s.?) and then spot out my favourites. But this morning, as a pissed off overloaded student heading to campus (knowing I was about to spend 5 hours sitting in the same amphitheatre locked away from the sun), I decided to take the playlist to my iPod and FULLY savour my 5-minute walk in the sun.

Miracle! This song literally took my mood from shitty to highly ecstatic in a split second.

Sun on my skin, volume at its highest, large-ambient-noise-blocking headphones, fresh crisp air filling my lungs, walking at the perfect pace, feeling light, my lips are moist and I just can’t get them to stop smirking. I cross peoples misunderstanding looks and feel bad they don’t feel like I do at this point in time.

So please, people, consume this amazingness in any manner you prefer, but just do it. Most of it is very calm, soothing, good for the soul.

I’d usually say Happiness=Equilibrium, but in this case Happiness=Dark Was The Night.

10 Mile Stereo – Beach House

Beach House me fait rêver … Un style tout à fait parfait pour la température fantastique qui nous arrive (je l’espère de tout mon coeur). Des rythmes faciles et magnifiques, doux tout en étant entraînants. Une voix d’une nonchalance parfaite pour nous donner l’impression de planer lorsqu’on écoute leurs chansons… Je me vois tout à fait dans un parc, dans un pays inconnu, émerveillé par ce qui m’entoure et bercé par ce genre de musique. C’est un duo qui ne pourrait, à mon avis, pas mieux se compléter. De la guitare, du piano; un homme, une femme; un musicien, une chanteuse… J’adore ♥

Real Love – Beach House

Teen Dream est leur 3e album. Ils ont formé leur duo en 2004 et n’ont pas arrêté depuis. Une musique mélancolique, une musique qui vous hantera dans un sens tout à fait nouveau… Tout est lent, tout est beau, tout est magique. Ils sont Américains malgré le fait que la chanteuse Victoria Legrand soit née en France :) De la qualité sonore comme j’en attendais depuis très longtemps. Ils ont participé à la chanson Slow Life de Grizzly Bear, celle que l’on peut retrouver sur l’album de New Moon.

New Moon OST

Le dernier post de notre chat national m’a rappelé que j’attendais impatiemment la Soundtrack du nouveau Twilight : New Moon. Oui je l’avoue j’attends ce film depuis longtemps parce que je raffole des vampires et des loups-garou et que Dude Whatever (le vampire) est trop hot et que Someone Something (le loup-garou) est trop cut.

NOOOOOOTTT !!!!! Par contre, j’attendais vraiment la soundtrack pour voir ce que mes fidèles amis nous réservaient. Twilight les a-t-il transformés en de monstres commerciaux mainstream ou ont-ils réussi à nous présenter des chef-d’oeuvres comme ils l’ont souvent fait auparavant…

Je parle évidemment de Bon Iver, Lykke Li, OK Go, Grizzly Bear, Sea Wolf et plusieurs autres artistes qui ne méritent pas de se faire connaître par la population pour ne pas être “corrupted by the DARK side of the music industry”.

DOOOONNC, je partage avec vous la OST de ce merveilleux(pausenot) film et j’ai une demande spéciale à vous faire : laissez dans les commentaires de ce post votre appréciation de la soundtrack. Dites-moi ce que vous pensez des oeuvres de vos artistes préférés. Sont-ils corrupted ? Ont-ils réussi à rester des Jedis de la music industry?
